tom sent this picture to me while i was at work yesterday.he was just kind of suspended in the water. we have no idea how the squirrel died. maybe he fell from a tree and drowned. i don't like squirrels but it's kind of sad, i guess.
louie doesn't like squirrels either. tom said he kept running around the pool, barking at it. that's the closest he'll ever get to the edge of the pool.

we took a walk today to get some veggie wraps and on the way there, there's this tree...look at all of the thorns!! i've never seen anything like it. i don't remember if i've already written about this tree because we saw it the first time awhile ago. it's like a huge thorned rose branch but with like a thousand more thorns. !!!!!! does anyone know what this tree is called?

today, we made some pretty good purchases. i saw that i got my stimulus payment and we thought this was a good time to get a ps3 and grand theft auto iv!!! we looked through our video games and decided to trade in 6 video games and one of our ds's. we weren't sure how much we would get for them but we saved almost half the price. yeah!

our third purchase of the day was this awesome snack...shin chan! check out the packaging inside...aww, look at him. tastes pretty good, kinda like coco puffs. and it came w/a sticker!ninja shin chan!i wish i could read japanese. now i have to collect all of them.

i realize that this movie came out when i was 2 years old, but why haven't i heard of this movie sooner than tonight? gimme an "f" was just on the fox movie channel. all i read in the info was that it was a cheerleader movie and i was sold.

piss filled balloons, japanese businessmen, a shower dance scene, slow motion ass shots (of boys and girls), an awesome soundtrack, rad roscoe, and of course, spirit sticks. i feel very lucky that we got to see this movie.

i remember when we first started watching his movies, we rented a bunch at the same time because they were so awful and after a while i just couldn't do it anymore. i couldn't take it!! (it's better in small doses.)

today, tom's idea for lunch was to barbeque! i was more than willing to just microwave the veggie hot dogs. i was soo hungry and cranky. but the wait was worth it.

one of the asparaguses? asparagi? fell and i gave it to louie. he was taking it away and dropped it. and then all of a sudden he tried to attack it. awwww. dogs are so dumb.

but, he finally ate it. he also ate some onions and red peppers. he didn't like the red peppers as much.

i had 3 veggie dogs and tom had 5. i don't think we'll have dinner tonight. yeah, right, i'm already hungry again. that's half tea/half lemonade we're drinking. mmmm.

tom started to garden a couple weeks ago. i've helped a little bit, but he's been taking care of it all every day. farmer tom!

our little greenhouses. inside are carrots, cucumbers, garden beans, tomatoes, peppers... i don't remember what else.

we, also, planted mint, basil, watermelons, salad greens, etc. the arugula is growing like a mofo. bugs keep eating some of the leaves, but tom's mom suggested soaking some tobacco in water and pouring some over the plants.

man, plants are so weird. fascinating!

eggrolls and chips

tom had the sudden urge to make dumplings today. tom noticed that i wasn't as excited as he hoped i would be. they just take way too long to make. we had to go to the market anyway, so when we were there i told him we should make dumplings. he was all, "noo, they take too long to make." sigh. i convinced him that i really wanted to eat dumplings but then when he picked up the wonton wrappers, i saw right next to them were wrappers for eggrolls.

i exclaimed, "let's make eggrolls instead!!"

we never made them before but there was a recipe inside. it's actually easier to make than dumplings since the wrappers are much bigger. we were still worried but they came out so delicious! see?

here's the recipe we sort of followed since i'm too lazy to write it out...

we used tofu instead of meat since tom doesn't eat dead animals.

and since we had the pot full of bubbling vegetable oil, tom decided to make potato chips, too!

we've been watching a really horrible korean soap opera lately. it's called the infamous chill sisters, or famous princesses, or seven princesses. none of the characters make any sense, they lie constantly, are completely unlikeable... they're either crying or screaming at each other. i seriously don't know how these actors keep doing it.

the story is based around these 4 sisters. the oldest is cheating on her horrible husband w/his best friend. there's the twin sisters (one of them is actually adopted but she doesn't know it) who are the complete opposites. one's in the army and is a goodygoody, the other is a slut&liar because the father completely favors the "good" one. and the youngest gets pregnant by her boyfriend who doesn't want to get married. he blames his mother (who, omg don't even get me STARTED on her), but really he doesn't want to get married because he feels he's too young and handsome to get married to anyone yet.

god, there's way more to this story that i wish i could write out. i mean, i could, but it wouldn't make any sense at all. we haven't even seen all of the episodes. we saw the first one and then didn't watch it for 2 weeks and we just started watching it again recently. it's on at midnight! monday-friday! for an hour w/no commercials. that's another reason why i hate this show... it keeps me up at night because even though i hate all of the characters except maybe the grandmother, it's completely entertaining. and every episode ends w/an unneccessary cliff hanger.

someones always saying they want to kill themselves. the mom has told her youngest that they should just kill themselves because she got pregnant and they couldn't convince the boys mom that they should get married. and then in last night's episode, the mom visited her oldest daughter and saw that she was crying. the daughter told her that her husband wants a divorce. the mom tried to convince him against that idea. she told him to beat her, kill her, she won't bat an eyelash! but please please don't divorce her! and then she went off about how he's cheated on her several times and she's always forgiven him and that he should do the same for her. i mean, what the hell?? AND THEN! she starts slapping her daughter and they're both bawling on the ground and the mom's yelling "how could you do this to your children??"

confused yet? sorry. i'm really sorry.

i decided to show a before and after picture to show why sometimes it takes a week or longer to post a new page. this isn't our full time job (ohhh, i wish it was though!) and so we don't work on it as much as we'd like to. and even when we do, we need a break from doing so many touch ups. it seems never ending at times. anyway, the above is after.

and this is the before. when we first started posting these pages online, we didn't really care about all the black dots and white spaces. but after i had it printed, we found some mistakes on some pages. and then we decided to go back and really fix it all up. we're still working on fixing the old pages. tom just finished working on page 18. i think a lot of it is stuff only we'll notice, but it really does make a difference. we keep clicking back and forth to see what it used to look like and i think it's worth it. better be!

i've learned a lot of different short cuts since i started helping tom w/this comic, but they're not short enough! the little black and white dots haunt me whenever i close my eyes!! we've had to get his pages scanned at kinkos since their too big for our scanner. but the last batch we got scanned, we found that there aren't that many black dots, which is good (tried to erase the pencil marks better this time)... but they're filled with teeny tiny white dots in ALL of the black lines. it seriously gives me the shivers just thinking about it. we may need to go back and get them re-scanned.

anyway, a new page is up. it took tom a few hours today just re-drawing the chains. i'll start the next page tomorrow.

hi - go see funny games before it leaves theaters. its like exactly the same as the original, but its fun to see it with other people. too bad there will probably be like 4 other people there. i like movies that are an experience, most are eye candy and the thrill is that its really big and loud. funny games is violent but they dont show it, so it doesnt rely on the gross out factor. i read alot of people walked out of the movie, thats pretty funny to me. they didnt expect a movie about torturing and killing a family might be disturbing? suck it up, people are being tortured and killed in real life with our consent and a fucking movie bothers you? i guess people only like the violence with no consequences as seen in pretty much every hollywood blockbuster or it can be gruesome as long as its patriotic, heroic or exploitive(same dif). dont get me wrong i love watching violence, i just think there might be a disconnect between reality and the filter we view it from thanks to the shit we swallow everyday from tv and movies.

new shirts! i finally made pity bear into a shirt. i remember when we first bought pity bear. this was a couple years back when we were living in boston. i was walking through the toy aisle at walgreens and there he was sitting next to his brother. we decided to get this guy because he looked more angry than pityful. i'm pretty sure they were called pity pets which is why we call him pity bear.

we went back probably a few days later and his brother was gone. i was sad but at least he found a home, too.

i actually made a painting! it's been a long time, i am telling you. tom made this wood board frame for me last year. it was a couple of months before i drew something on it. never painted it. made a couple shirts w/that design. and THEN! i erased it and drew pity bear on it instead. (see pity bear w/tom in a post below) this again is months later. tom drew the girl because i couldn't figure out the background. and finally this past week, i painted it.

i like it how it turned out.

my parents went out to dinner w/my cousin and her family over the weekend. my parents wanted to give their little daughter a present and i decided to paint her a little painting. i did a couple but one of them turned out to be really creepy and scary looking. but one of them turned out pretty cute but i didn't get a chance to take a picture of it.

then, i got a text from M with the name of his new baby girl, date, and her weight. so, i wanted to make a painting for her, too! but again, they all turned out to be too creepy or scary for a little baby. seriously, i painted like 10 different paintings and was up until one. i finally made tom make one. and of course! totally cute. see pic above on the left. the painting on the right is one of the paintings i did w/some alterations by tom. it's kind of a cross between pity bear, bossy bear, and gloomy bear. ha.

2 weeks later and we finally posted a new page to the comic. tom's parents came to visit for a few days. and then we both got sick. AND THEN my computer of over 4 years died. but now we have a brand new computer with a monitor that's almost double the size as my old ibooks.

anyway, that's why it took so long to get a new page up. not that anyone reads this... oh well. time to start on the new page. or maybe i'll play the sims.

for tom's birthday, i had the first 29 pages of his comic printed. it's really exciting to see it in book form! i only had 4 printed since i wasn't sure how it was going to look. we found a couple touch ups that needed to be done. we're actually going to go back to each page and really touch up everything. i've only done the first page so far. work on the cover some more, possible title change?? and then we're going to print more in grayscale. i don't know if we'll use the same people. kinda expensive, but the quality is pretty nice.
